COVID-19 Relief Fund

Support South Africans struggling in the wake of COVID-19.

In times of past crisis, we’ve always risen to the challenges as a nation. We are once again facing such a crisis, and while we are concerned about our own futures, we must not forget the people in our community who are already struggling, not only with health and education but also with the financial effects of COVID-19: Such vulnerable people of our nation include our homeless men, women and many children.

Without providing social isolation and decisive action, the number of people infected will rapidly increase from a few hundred to tens of thousands, and within a few weeks to hundreds of thousands.

This can prove catastrophic for South Africa whose nation is already dealing with many people with suppressed immunity because of HIV, TB, and high levels of malnutrition.

United Way South Africa (UWSA) is working together with the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) to raise funds in order to provide food, as well as basic hygiene supplies to 1500 homeless people at the City of Johannesburg Shelters in Johannesburg.

We therefore request you to join us in helping the homeless in Gauteng with the provision of food and hygiene packs in order to feed them and provide them with the necessities to practice sanitisation to overcome the virus.

UWSA therefore requests either monetary donations deposited directly to UWSA’s bank account or in the form of a Makro gift card.

We thank you for your ongoing support to our CSI initiatives and its support to our nation.

Lets work together to get over this terrible pandemic.
