World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2023

Human trafficking

United Way South Africa join millions around the world to campaign for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2023, theme-"Reach every victim of trafficking, leave no one behind".

Human Trafficking is the abuse of children, women, and men for their bodies and labour. It is modern-day slavery. Our children are the most vulnerable to Human Trafficking and individuals who are looking for employment opportunities and better living. It’s crucial to raise awareness and reinforce global commitments to eliminate trafficking in persons as specifically mentioned in SDG 5, 8 and 16.

With global and national responses appearing to be deteriorating, United Way South Africa continues to play a role by teaching educators, community service providers, social workers, learners at schools and care centres on the impact of Human Trafficking.

Today, we encourage every community member, young and old to be educated and aware on what human trafficking is, its causes and how we can protect ourselves.
