UWSA & Cummins Africa Fight Against COVID-19 in Middleburg Care Village.

Creating change together enables us to have a strong, good quality of life.

On Friday, the 19th of June 2020, United Way South Africa (UWSA) and Cummins Africa visited the Middelburg Care Village where they handed over bulk Food Supplies, Hygiene Products as well as Personal Protective Equipment to help care for the centre's 108 children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With this COVID-19 Response Initiative, UWSA and Cummins Africa aim to help children who are fully dependent on feeding schemes and hunger relief programmes (which are currently on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic); as well as children who do not have parents to care for them – helping them to continue getting nutritional food, proper hygiene, sanitation and other value-added products.

The Middelburg Care Village is a facility which caters for the needs of the children who are either orphans, or have been removed from their natural homes because of the conditions there. The Care Village was started to address the direct need for residential care facilities for such children in Mpumalanga.

Everyone was so happy that they were able to make an impact in these children’s lives. That is what it means to LIVEUNITED.

A big thank you to all partners involved: Cummins Africa, Durapi and Middelburg Care Village.

United Way South Africa promotes collaboration between all relevant stakeholders in order to leverage, aggregate, support and expand common development programmes for disadvantaged and vulnerable communities. Through collective community impact, they bring about long-term sustainable change to these communities.
